He was admitted to the Neuch\u00e2tel Bar in 1983, and to the Geneva Bar in 1986.<\/p>\n
After gaining initial experience as a lawyer in the United States, he served as legal counsel in Basel for the Swiss Bankers Association from 1983 to 1986. He then joined an international commercial law firm with offices in Geneva, London, and Moscow, first as an associate and then, starting in 1992, as a partner. He subsequently decided to continue his career and serve his clients within the dynamic environment of DGE Avocats.<\/p>\n
Didier de Montmollin is a recognized expert in banking law. For 24 years (until the end of 2021), he served as a member of the Council of the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) of the Swiss Bar Association and the Swiss Notaries Association. He also served as an investigator appointed by the Swiss Bankers Association under the Convention on the Duty of Care of Banks for over three decades (until 2023) and as a lecturer for the CAS Compliance in Financial Services programme at the University of Geneva between 2012 and 2022. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Swiss Bar Association\u2019s delegation to the CCBE (Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe) in Brussels.<\/p>\n
Didier de Montmollin\u2019s practice focuses in particular on advising banks and other financial intermediaries subject directly or indirectly to FINMA, as well as their clients. He is also active in the field of international criminal and administrative mutual legal assistance, as well as in domestic and international arbitration, serving as a sole arbitrator, chair of an arbitral tribunal, party-appointed arbitrator, or counsel. He regularly advises clients on matters of contract law, administrative law, and economic criminal law.<\/p>\n
He has served as a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Industry (and Services) and of the National Arbitration Committee (Swiss Rules of International Arbitration).<\/p>\n
From 2003 to 2020, he served as a member (and President in 2007\u20132008) of the Municipal Council of Cologny (Geneva), notably chairing the Urban Planning Commission and the Building Commission.<\/p>\n
